Springtime in Val Pusteria, South Tyrol

[Translate to English:]

Springtime at Valsegg is anything but ordinary

While the gentle spring sun carpets the valley in blooming flowers, you can still carve your skis in the snow up on the mountains. The nearby ski areas of Gitschberg Jochtal in Vals, Plan de Corones in Brunico, and the Plose in Bressanone invite you to enjoy sun-drenched skiing combined with "hut hopping." It is the perfect time to celebrate culinary highlights in the warm sun while soaking in the breathtaking 360-degree mountain panorama.

Meanwhile, nature is stirring down in the valley. The apple blossoms in nearby Natz/Schabs are a beautiful backdrop for scenic strolls. We especially recommend cycling tours along the Val di Pusteria bike path during the spring months. Nearby excursion destinations also offer vibrant natural spectacles, perfect for a day of exploration. We have curated the very best spring activities just for you

Ice Bathing at Valsegg

[Translate to English:]

The cold triggers an intense release of "happy hormones," often leading to a state of pure euphoria. Your mind feels sharp and focused, while any lingering fatigue simply vanishes. These are the immediate effects after an ice bath. As you leave the water, your blood vessels dilate, creating an intense, soothing feeling of warmth. Beyond being regenerative, an ice bath also relieves pain. That is why we invite you in March to explore this unique physical and natural experience alongside our expert, Sarah.

The "Spring Valley" near Caldaro

[Translate to English:]

The "Spring Valley" certainly lives up to its name. Even in February, while snow still blankets many areas, this valley is already in full bloom. Thanks to the unique climate and warm air, spring arrives here earlier than elsewhere, creating a sea of blossoms consisting of lilies of the valley, crocuses, and other flowers in the most beautiful colors and scents. This wonderful spring hike leads from Montiggl to Lake Kaltern. The hike is estimated at approximately 3 hours and 20 minutes and is pleasantly easy.

Crocus Blossom at South Tyrol's Most Beautiful Alpine Pasture

[Translate to English:]

The Fanealm is located in the immediate vicinity of Valsegg, just above the village of Vals. It has been awarded the title of "South Tyrol's most beautiful alpine pasture" and is not only a popular filming location for movies and series but also a moving nature experience all year round. In April especially, the Fanealm is carpeted with crocuses in shades of purple, white, and yellow. Since the private alpine huts are uninhabited over the winter, the place holds a truly special magic during this time. This is an experience you definitely shouldn't miss!

Easter Traditions and Egg Hunts

[Translate to English:]

In South Tyrol, and particularly in the side valleys of the Val Pusteria, Christian Easter traditions are deeply rooted. Here, you can experience authentic customs firsthand: the "Palmbesen" (decorated palm branches) are proudly carried by many children on Palm Sunday. Binding these branches with boxwood is an ancient and special tradition. On Easter Sunday, food is brought to the church in baskets to be blessed. The blessed ham and Easter bread are then enjoyed as a traditional Easter feast.
Also on Easter Sunday, after the church you can experience "Eierpecken" (egg tapping): a local tradition where people compete by tapping their Easter eggs against each other. The egg that remains unbroken wins!
The Easter egg hunt on Sunday is one of the biggest highlights for the children. We wonder what kind of Easter nest you will find at Valsegg?
