Wonderful. Spring has finally arrived, and a little while ago I felt the need to pause. To recharge. At Valsegg in South Tyrol, I left everyday life behind for a few days. My rating for this (far too short) wellness break: a full 5 out of 5. It simply doesn’t get better. Here is my experience for everyone who needs a little “me-time” or “we-time”.
Switching off in the Waldbad
From the moment you enter the Waldbad, it becomes clear: everything here revolves around the senses. A gentle, calming atmosphere. The subtle scent of the forest. Soft sounds. Everything slows down immediately. Before indulging in treatments, I first enjoy the warmth of the natural stone infinity pool. Enter. Let go. Surrender. Yes – this feels deeply grounding, almost like returning to the origin of being. Snow-dusted mountains in the distance. Spring birdsong in the background. The scent of pine in the air.
The quality of materials is immediately noticeable: natural stone, elegant design, thoughtful details. And yet, it is not about appearance alone. It is about harmony. Balance. Stillness. Warmth.
The stone pine massage
Even the view from the infinity pool is pure wellness. Still, I head to the massage area. A 50-minute stone pine massage awaits me, and I am curious.
The therapist uses special stone pine wooden sticks and an activating herbal oil. The intense scent of Swiss pine surrounds me. The massage feels dynamic, stimulating, and revitalising. I am told that the aroma has a liberating effect and supports breathing. Like a walk through the stone pine forests of South Tyrol.
Special spa treatments beyond the ordinary
Alongside the soothing stone pine massage, Valsegg offers a wide range of treatments. Signature experiences complement the classic offerings, bringing variety and deep wellbeing. They are truly worth trying.
Honey Massage (approx. 25 minutes)
Local South Tyrolean honey combined with a special massage technique. Supports detoxification, loosens connective tissue, and stimulates circulation.
Serpentine Stone Massage (75 minutes)
Natural serpentine stone from Val di Fundres, combined with warm moonwood oil. Stimulates circulation, supports inner balance, and helps reduce stress and exhaustion.
Valsegg Stamp Massage (50 minutes)
Alpine herbs and blossoms from the surrounding forest and garden. Warm aromatic stamps and gentle movements release tension, stress, and fatigue.
Hydro Man Balance (80 minutes)
Designed specifically for men’s skin. Deep cleansing treatment combining herbs and gemstone massage for renewed vitality and freshness.
Completely relaxed after the stone pine massage and filled with new energy, I return to my chalet and get ready for dinner at Restaurant Eggile.
Therapeutic treatments at Valsegg
A new day begins. The weather looks rainy, so after an exceptional breakfast in my chalet, I decide to dedicate another day to wellness. The spa and treatment offering had already convinced me at the time of booking. I have been suffering from osteoarthritis for years, so I choose the Liebscher & Bracht pain therapy. I am curious what it will bring. This method, developed by Roland Liebscher-Bracht and Dr. Petra Bracht, focuses on osteopressure, stretching exercises, and fascia work. It is mainly used to relieve musculoskeletal pain. The therapist begins with passive stretching. She explains that pain often comes from a kind of “misprogramming” of the muscular system. Over the next 50 minutes, muscles and connective tissue are guided back toward their natural state. The body returns to balance. I cannot say whether it is purely subjective, but I immediately feel a difference. The pain eases. At the end, I am shown simple exercises to integrate into everyday life. A practical way to maintain the benefits. I am grateful for this professional and attentive treatment.
Further therapeutic treatments
Valsegg also offers additional therapeutic applications:
Dorn & Breuss – Naturally Health
A treatment focused on identifying the root cause of pain. Fully individualised and tailored to the body’s needs.
Spinal therapy according to Dieter Dorn with back massage
Harmonises posture and movement. Headaches, insomnia, and even stomach issues can often be linked to vertebral misalignment. Gentle movements help bring the spine back into alignment.
Breuss spinal massage according to Rudolf Breuss
A gentle intervertebral disc massage that releases tension and stimulates undernourished discs.
To end the day, I spend some time in the yoga room on the first floor. Gentle stretches. Calm breathing. A few quiet minutes on the mat. Nothing more is needed.
Letting the day go. Entering the evening in complete stillness.
My final impression
If you are looking for peace in spring and want to do something truly good for your body and wellbeing, Valsegg is the right place.
I return to everyday life deeply relaxed. And I already know: next spring, I will come back.
