Five trails, a thousand impressions – enjoy your hike!
From the Fane Alm to the Brixner Hut
The Fane Alm, located above Vals, has been named South Tyrol’s most beautiful alpine village. Situated at 1,739 m, it’s the perfect starting point for scenic mountain experiences. We recommend the hike to the Brixen Hut – an easy route that’s also suitable for children. Depending on your mood and fitness level, you can either return from the hut or continue to the summit of the Wilde Kreuzspitze at 3,132 m. The stunning view of the Wilde Lake makes every step of the climb worthwhile.

The Mill Trail and Earth Pyramids
The Mill Trail in Terenten is a leisurely hike that combines the charm of ancient watermills with the magical atmosphere of earth pyramids. Signs and info boards guide you through the forest from Terenten. After around 40 minutes, you’ll reach the earth pyramids, which were formed in 1837 after a historic storm. They are among the most impressive natural monuments in South Tyrol. Further along the path, you’ll come across five traditional mills along the stream, all of which can be visited. A perfect hike for families who enjoy nature, history, and unique views.

Hiking and Culinary Breaks on the Rodeneck Alpine Plateau
The Rodenecker Alm is one of the largest high plateaus in Europe. Its gentle alpine meadows, just below 2,000 m, attract leisure hikers and e-bikers alike. It’s not only the stunning views of the Zillertal Alps, the Geisler peaks, the Brenta Group, and the Ötztal and Stubai Alps that make this area so special. Stopping at one of the many alpine huts is also a true highlight. Here, you can recharge with traditional South Tyrolean dishes and enjoy genuine mountain hospitality.

The Chestnut Trail and a Break with Roasted Chestnuts
The Keschtnweg, as we locals call it, takes you through ancient chestnut groves and vineyards, starting at the Neustift Monastery near Brixen and continuing through Feldthurns all the way to the charming little town of Klausen. This hike is especially beautiful in autumn, when the chestnuts are ripe and the golden leaves shimmer in the sunlight. Along the way in autumn, you’ll find traditional chestnut roasters (Kastanienbrater), where chestnuts are roasted over open fires and served with freshly harvested new wine from local vineyards. Take a well-deserved break, enjoy some roasted chestnuts, and soak in the views of the colorful fall landscape.

Hike to the Rustic Weitenberger Alm in the Heart of the Pfunderer Mountains
The Pfunderer Mountains are considered hidden gems, as the Pfunderertal valley and surrounding peaks are still largely untouched by tourism. For lovers of pristine alpine landscapes, we recommend a hike to the rustic Weitenberger Alm. The trail starts at the end of the Pfunders Valley and leads you past a gorge carved by the Weitenberger stream. The beautiful mountain scenery accompanies you all the way to the hut, where you can enjoy homemade alpine products like mountain cheese, butter, and yogurt. From the hut, you can continue your hike to the Weitenberger Lake or the Pfunderer Joch pass.
